Privacy Policy
PlusBoda is built around trust and the safety of children. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over your information.

PlusBoda (“PlusBoda”, “we”, “us”) operates a child-safety and transport-observability platform in Uganda for monitored school transport and everyday rides. We collect only what we need to run these services safely, there are no payments in the app, and we never sell your personal data.
1.Who this policy covers
This policy applies to everyone who uses the PlusBoda mobile app or website — riders, parents and guardians, drivers and conductors, and partner-school staff. The app is operated by adults; where it involves a pupil, that pupil’s parent/guardian or school manages the information on their behalf.
2.Information we collect
- Account details — Your name and phone number when you sign in. Optionally an email and profile photo.
- Location — Precise device location while you use the app — to show nearby drivers, set pickup points, plot routes, and let guardians and schools follow an active trip.
- Trip information — Pickups, drop-offs, destinations you select, and recent places, so the app works and feels familiar.
- School-transport details — For monitored school runs: the pupil, their guardians' contact details, the assigned vehicle and crew, and pickup/drop-off status.
- Driver verification documents — If you sign up to drive, a profile photo and a government-issued ID. These are used only to verify you before you join the fleet, are reviewed by our team, and are not shown to riders or other users.
- Device & app data — Basic technical data needed to keep the app running on your device.
PlusBoda has no in-app payments. We do not collect or process card, bank, or mobile-money details — any fares are arranged directly between riders and drivers, outside the app.
We do notcollect data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not use third-party advertising networks.
3.How we use your information
- Provide the service — Match rides, plan routes, run school pickups and drop-offs, and show live trip progress.
- Safety & monitoring — Let guardians and partner schools see that a pupil was picked up and dropped off, and send early-pickup, approaching and drop-off alerts.
- Notifications — Send you relevant trip and safety notifications on your device.
- Improve PlusBoda — Keep the app reliable and understand which features help most.
4.Location data
Location is central to PlusBoda. With your permission we use precise location to find nearby drivers, set your pickup, and draw the route. During an active school run, a driver’s location updates in the background so guardians and the school can follow the trip in real time. You can turn location sharing off in the app’s settings or revoke the permission in your device settings at any time — some features will not work without it.
5.Children’s & pupils’ information
PlusBoda is designed for adults to keep children safe — it is not a product marketed to or used by children directly. A pupil’s information (name, school, home pickup point, guardians) is provided and controlled by their parent/guardian or partner school, and is used onlyto operate safe school transport: matching them to the right vehicle and crew, recording pickups and drop-offs, and alerting their guardians. We never use a child’s information for advertising or sell it to anyone.
6.How we share information
We share information only as needed to provide the service:
- With your trip’s participants — A pupil’s live trip and status is shared with their guardians and school; a rider’s trip details are shared with their assigned driver.
- Service providers — Mapping and routing are powered by Google Maps. Providers process data only to perform services for us.
- Legal reasons — Where required by law or to protect someone’s safety.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
7.Data retention & security
We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it. We protect your data with reasonable technical and organisational measures. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
8.Your rights & choices
- Access & update — View and edit your profile in the app at any time.
- Delete your account — In the app, go to Settings → Delete account to permanently delete your account and associated data on your device. You can also email us to request deletion.
- Control permissions — Manage location and notification permissions in your device settings.
- Turn off sharing — Disable live-location sharing in the app’s privacy settings.
9.Permissions we request
- Location — To show nearby drivers, set pickups, plot routes, and share live trips with guardians/schools (including in the background during an active run).
- Notifications — To send trip and safety alerts.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as PlusBoda grows. We will revise the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
